Hi !

Elmar informed me that, after some months, he finally released a new version of his map editor. You can get the new version by running update, if you don't have any version of elmar's editor installed atm, get it from here => http://www.transmogrifier.de/walkover...pedit_setup.exe and execute update.

According to his mail, the new features are (translated from german)

- copying of maptiles
- import of tga files
- automatic calculation of the collisionmap
- color signal while loading files signalling if you are in the correct directory or not
- shortcuts inserted
- userdefined cursors built
- several small bugfixes

So if you want to start creating maps then you definatly want to check this out as well as ChickenLittle's editor which you can find here http://www.the-nexx.de/blabla2/Mapedit/Map....30/Mapedit.zip (link is broken Sad ). I won't suggest you to even try TSEdit or BlackShadow's editor. They are more or less abondened and it's unlikely that there will be newer versions of those. Elmar's and ChickenLittle's are both more enhanced anyway.

The original list in german:

   - Kopieren von Mapteilen
   - Impotieren von TGA Files
   - Kollisionsmap automatisch setzen
   - Farbensignal beim laden von Dateien als Signal das man sich im richtigen
     Ordner befindet.
   - Shortcuts eingefügt
   - Benutzerdefinierte Cursor eingebaut
   - Weitere kleine Bugfixes

Looks like Invision got me once again with its fancy url shortening algorithm. I corrected the link. Thanks for mentioning. Wink

Kann es sein, das man Karten nicht speichern kann?!? Oder was mache ich falsch? Das Speichern-Button ist immer grau unterlegt...  Huh

I just tried creating a map with Elmar's Editor and I didn't even get that far myself. After I load a tileset and select the transparent color, the upper left area, where the tileset is supposed to appear, is still completly white. Sad

Since I didn't write that code and I had no contact to Elmar for some time you might want to check out my initial way for making maps for walkover. Because I was too lazy to write my own editor gui I decided to use some already finished tile editor: TSEdit http://tilestudio.sourceforge.net/. Since it doesn't know anything about walkover maps, you have to execute some cmdline tool to convert the created map and copy files around between the editor directory and the walkover directory. Those other 3 map creation solutions aimed for being more user friendly by doing all that internally on their own. But supporting them is impossible for me - they are either written in Delphi, which I don't own or I don't have access to the srccode at all. Anyways, here is the link with everything in it you need including tilestudio: http://www.walkover.org/files/wedit0.1.zip.

Tell me if it works or if there are some problems with it. Since that's a quite old tool I'm not quite sure anymore if I made the adjustments to the newer mapformat. I remember a few years back I changed it a little bit but I'm not sure if those changes got into that cmdline tool since those other editors appeared. If it doesn't work tell me about your issues and send the unoptimized map to me by email. I can for sure make it work again with the current version of walkover, if it doesn't work out of the box. And if no problem arrises then send me the map as well Smiley

[edit]Oh I almost forgot: Read the readme for instructions on how to create a map. It is from the time when the whole walkover project was completly german, so the readme is german as well. But it seems like you can handle that Wink Also, if you want to use other tilesets than the included ones, make sure they are of the same resolution as the included ones.[edit]

I think I'm gonna try to make a map myself sometimes :d.. (Don't expect too much from it though :p)

Gotta learn for exams first though.. Maybe this evening I will have the time :d.
